Rubbing shoulders with the next Picasso and Hemingway, Leigh and Gable, or Hewlett and Packard is not the whole story. Where those people are, there will be growing economic and cultural activity, good living, and interesting jobs.

Certain US towns and cities show signs they can deal better with the challenges predicted for the next decade. These places are likely to provide more jobs, better education, and lower costs. And protect us better from the rising costs of healthcare, taxes, and energy, from drought and from several other predicted economic challenges.
Woody Allen is probably right that, “Half the secret of success in life is just showing up.” But the other half of that secret is “Where?”
